PATH is an invitation to notice, not a label to carry.
Spiritual growth does not always happen in a straight line. There are seasons when God awakens new hunger, seasons when He deepens our roots, seasons when He reshapes our lives, and seasons when He brings forth fruit through service, leadership, encouragement, and influence.
Encourager PATH helps you reflect on your present spiritual season. It does not define your identity, measure your value, or determine your spiritual maturity. Your identity is found in Jesus Christ, and every season of growth is sustained by His grace.
Take a breath before you begin. You do not need to choose the season that sounds most impressive. Simply answer honestly according to what is most true of your life right now.
Slow Down for a Moment
Notice what God may already be doing.
Many people approach assessments by trying to find the “right” answer. PATH invites a different posture. Rather than trying to produce a particular result, begin by becoming attentive.
Think about your relationship with God, your current questions, your spiritual practices, the changes taking place in your life, and the ways you may be serving or investing in others.
Pause and consider:
- What has God been drawing my attention toward recently?
- Where am I experiencing spiritual hunger or curiosity?
- Where is God inviting me to become more deeply rooted?
- What attitudes, priorities, or patterns may be changing?
- Where am I beginning to serve, encourage, lead, or invest?

The Four PATH Formation Dimensions
PATH describes four ways a present spiritual season may be expressed: Pursuing, Abiding, Transforming, and Harvesting.
Pursuing
A Season of Awakening and Spiritual Hunger
Pursuing describes a season marked by curiosity, searching, renewed desire, questions, and a growing hunger to know God more deeply.
This season may include:
- A renewed interest in Scripture or prayer
- Questions about faith, purpose, or direction
- A desire to reconnect with God or Christian community
- An openness to learning and spiritual discovery
Helpful emphasis: Explore, ask, learn, and take a simple step toward Jesus.
Abiding
A Season of Rootedness and Life with Christ
Abiding describes a season in which God may be inviting you to deepen your relationship with Him through prayer, Scripture, worship, rest, community, and consistent rhythms of grace.
This season may include:
- A desire for greater consistency in spiritual practices
- Learning to rest in God rather than striving
- Developing deeper roots in Scripture and prayer
- Growing in trust, dependence, and attentiveness
Helpful emphasis: Remain, receive, practice, and deepen your life with Christ.
Transforming
A Season of Surrender and Christlike Change
Transforming describes a season in which God may be reshaping your priorities, habits, relationships, attitudes, direction, or sense of calling.
This season may include:
- Recognizing patterns that need to change
- Responding to conviction with honesty and surrender
- Learning new ways of thinking and living
- Taking courageous steps of obedience
Helpful emphasis: Surrender, respond, renew, and cooperate with the Spirit’s transforming work.
Harvesting
A Season of Fruitfulness and Kingdom Contribution
Harvesting describes a season in which growth with Christ is becoming visible through service, encouragement, leadership, mentoring, generosity, and investment in others.
This season may include:
- Using your experience to encourage others
- Serving with increasing confidence and faithfulness
- Leading, mentoring, or developing people
- Recognizing opportunities for Kingdom influence
Helpful emphasis: Serve, encourage, invest, and remain dependent on Christ.
Blended Expressions
Your season may reflect more than one PATH dimension.
Most people will recognize more than one PATH dimension in their present experience. Your results may identify a primary season and a secondary season that together provide a fuller picture of what may be happening in your life.
For example, a person may be both Pursuing and Abiding, with renewed spiritual hunger beginning to develop into consistent practices. Another person may be both Transforming and Harvesting, experiencing personal change while also helping others grow.
A blended result is not a contradiction. It reflects the reality that spiritual formation is rich, personal, and often unfolding in several ways at once.

- Replace Scripture, prayer, Christian community, or pastoral wisdom
- Predict every future step God may invite you to take
Your Foundation
Your identity is found in Christ, not in a profile.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17Your PATH result may describe something about your present experience, but it does not tell you who you ultimately are. In Christ, you are loved, received, forgiven, and continually being formed by grace.
You are not more valuable when you are serving visibly, and you are not less faithful when God is inviting you to slow down, seek, heal, learn, or become more deeply rooted.
Every season can become holy ground when it is surrendered to Jesus.
Season and Maturity
A PATH season is not a spiritual ranking.
It may be tempting to assume that Harvesting is more mature than Pursuing, or that Transforming represents failure. PATH should never be interpreted that way.
Mature believers can enter fresh seasons of pursuit. Faithful servants may need renewed abiding. Fruitful leaders may experience deep transformation. A person who has followed Jesus for many years may still be invited into a season of new questions, fresh surrender, or restored hunger.
Spiritual maturity is not demonstrated by remaining in one PATH dimension. It is demonstrated by responding faithfully to Jesus in whatever season He is leading you through.
Reflect
How to Prepare for Your PATH Assessment
Answer for Your Present Season
Respond according to what has been most true recently, not what was true several years ago or what you hope will be true someday.
Choose Honesty Over Aspiration
Do not select answers simply because they sound more spiritual, productive, or mature.
Notice Consistent Patterns
Think about recurring desires, practices, challenges, responses, and opportunities rather than one unusual day.
Remain Prayerfully Open
Allow your results to begin reflection and conversation rather than treating them as a final conclusion.
Receive
How to Receive Your Results with Wisdom
When you receive your PATH profile, begin by noticing what resonates. Consider where the description reflects your present experience and where it may invite further prayer or conversation.
Receive with humility. Your result is a formation tool, not a complete explanation of your spiritual life.
Reflect prayerfully. Ask God to show you what is helpful, timely, and worthy of attention.
Discuss with trusted people. A pastor, mentor, group leader, or mature Christian friend may help you interpret your season wisely.
Choose one faithful step. Avoid trying to change everything at once. Begin with one clear response.
Personal Reflection
Before continuing, consider these questions.
Where have I noticed the greatest spiritual hunger or movement in my life recently?
Is God inviting me to seek, become rooted, surrender to change, or invest in others?
What practices, relationships, or opportunities may help me respond faithfully?
Am I willing to receive a result that describes my present reality rather than the result I might prefer?
A Prayer Before Discovery
Invite God into the process.
Lord Jesus, thank You for meeting me in every season of life. Help me to become attentive to what You are doing in me right now.
Give me honesty as I answer, humility as I receive my results, and wisdom as I consider my next step. Keep me from comparing my season with anyone else’s or finding my identity in a profile.
Awaken what needs to be awakened, deepen what needs to be rooted, transform what needs to be changed, and bring forth fruit that reflects Your love.
Lead me by Your Spirit and help me respond faithfully to You. Amen.
